- Lot Description
A Persian socketed spearhead, 18th century. Forged iron or steel.
18th century.
The blade is of tapered form, double-edged, leaf-shaped, with shallow central fullers (grooves) running down the length. These fullers were typically used to reduce weight without sacrificing strength. The base is formed as a cylindrical socket, used to mount the head onto a wooden shaft. The ridge and molded collar between the blade and socket are well-defined, suggesting high-quality workmanship.

Condition
Tip chipped off. Surface with pitting throughout.
