- Lot Description
A finely crafted wootz steel spearhead produced in 1800s Iran, during the reign of the Qajar dynasty. This spearhead is somewhat unusual in that its blade closely resembles the Caucasian kindjals produced on the fringe of Persian territory, possibly indicating manufacture by a smith from the Caucasus. The blade is fullered on down the center-line of each side, and ends in a reinforced tip for easier penetration. The blade is attached to the round, conical socket via a stylized scalloped brace, typical for Persian weapons of this era. The socket retains some elements of its simple gilding at the ends and down the seam.

Condition
Very good, with only minor pitting consistent with age and some minor loss to gilding at rims of socket.
