A gilt bronze sculpture by French artist Alexandre Henri Devaulx (1856-1940), showing a female centaur nursing her infant as they lay in a field. The piece is signed 'A H Devaulx' and marked with the Susse Frères foundry mark.
Alexandre Devaulx was an accomplished artist active during the height of the Belle Epoque in Paris, debuting at the Paris Salon in 1876. He was the son of François Théodore Devaulx (1808-1871), a notable sculptor in his own right.
Paris, France, 19th century.
Excellent, with some light spotting in places.
