- Lot Description
A finely crafted ceremonial khanjar with a carved and highly polished hilt of deep cobalt blue tone. The pommel and grip are set with inset cabochon stones, arranged in floral patterns with green and red accents. The guard is decorated with additional jewel settings and gilt floral detailing. The curved Damascus blade displays a visible wootz pattern and retains areas of gold koftgari ornamentation at the forte.
Khanjars with hardstone hilts have a long tradition in Indo-Persian and Ottoman courtly culture. Lapis examples are especially prized due to the difficulty of carving the stone and the association of lapis with prestige and ceremonial use. The present example is notable for the bright color of the stone and the refined goldwork.

Condition
The blade shows a clean and even wootz pattern with minor age wear. The hilt is polished and intact. Jewel settings appear complete with expected age-related surface marks. Overall, very good presentation.
