- Lot Description
An Ottoman Turkish tufek rifle with a brilliantly patterned wootz barrel which has been set with intricate, thin lines of gilding in various patterns at the muzzle and breech. The barrel is octagonal in shape, with a nonagonal bore. The stock is held to the barrel via three engraved brass bands. The breech area is covered with a brass sheet, and the rivets attaching the lock mechanism are decorated with thin brass florets. The mechanism is of the characteristic miquelet style.

Condition
Barrel with light surface pitting throughout, wootz pattern well visible. Stock well attached. Ramrod appears to be old replacement. All barrel bands present. Gilding with some loss and wear throughout. Light oxidation to the mechanism.
