Watercolor and ink on paper, geometric abstraction arranged around a central circular form with radiating diagonals. The composition features rectilinear color blocks in red, green, ochre, blue, and black, offset by fine linear accents. The sheet is numbered 14 in the lower margin, suggesting a relation to a sequential series of studies.
El Lissitzky was a pivotal figure of the Russian avant-garde, closely linked to Kazimir Malevich and the Suprematist movement. His celebrated Proun works introduced a new visual vocabulary that bridged painting, architecture, and graphic design. The present work demonstrates his characteristic use of dynamic diagonals, intersecting planes, and a disciplined palette.
Comparable to Lissitzky’s Proun studies and Suprematist watercolors held in international museum collections (e.g., MoMA, Stedelijk, Tretyakov Gallery).
