AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART PAINTING, oil on cherry or maple panel, a charming example featuring an African-American couple, in front of an early country home having a shake roof and flanking brick chimneys, the door mostly unpainted with exposed wood and an "8" or "B" at center, possibly a Virginia scene. No signature located. Housed in a custom bird's eye maple frame with gilt sight edge. Second half 19th century. 4 1/2" x 7 1/2" sight, 8 1/4" x 11 1/4" OA.
