EAST TENNESSEE / SOUTHWEST VIRGINA GREAT ROAD DECORATED EARTHENWARE / REDWARE JAR / HONEY POT, lead- and manganese-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, bold ovoid form with high-arching handles separate from the body, flanged flat-top rim, and a slight foot. Bold brushed manganese splotched decoration to body and handles. Possibly the Cain Pottery, Sullivan Co., TN. Circa 1840-1850. 8 1/4" H, 5" D rim.

Excellent as-found condition with no restoration, only some expected medial wear to the glaze.
