EMERSON & SILVER U.S. MODEL 1860 LIGHT CAVALRY SABER AND SCABBARD, with brass basket guard bearing inspector's mark "D.F.M.." to pommel, leather covered grip with wire, blade marked to ricasso "U.S. / D.F.M. / 1864", with "D.F.M." inspector's mark slightly offset and into "U.S." mark, and to ricasso reverse "EMERSON / & / SILVER / TRENTON / N.J." Blade with expected minor staining, and point slightly dulled, guard with outer branch bent out of place, and wristguard bent upwards. Scabbard with expected dents to prevent rattling, and rust patina surface; grip in excellent condition given it's age.
