MANSFIELD & LAMB U.S. MODEL 1860 LIGHT CAVALRY SABER AND SCABBARD, with brass basket guard bearing stamped "15" and "32" to either side of the blade, grip lacking wire and most of leather wrapping, ricasso marked "U.S" over "J.C.W." inspector's mark over "1864," and to ricasso reverse "MANSFIELD / & / LAMB / FORESTDALE, R.I." in oval. Mansfield & Lamb, Forestdale, R.I. Dated 1864. 41" L, blade 35" L.
Blade in excellent condition, with a few areas of minor rust and one or two expected nicks, grip splitting slightly at upper terminal, with aforementioned lack of wire and significant loss of leather wrapping, and lacking leather washer between blade and guard; scabbard undamaged, possibly not original, without expected denting to prevent rattling.
