with press-molded scallop-shell rim, painted with a band of cobalt blue to the edge, the face painted with a long-tailed peafowl nestled among brown enamel branches, surrounded by brushy blue-green bushy foliage. Unmarked. Circa 1800-1820. 9 3/4" D.
Published: George and Mickey Deike - Feathers and Foliage, p. 72, fig. 5.22.
Provenance: From the personal collection of George and Mickey Deike.
Good condition, the edge with two very light hairlines toward the cavetto, and with a 1/2" of the foot rim absent, the glaze and enamel abraded at some of the edge points, as is typical of the ware; typical stacking marks to shoulder.
