MID-ATLANTIC DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately half-gallon capacity, cylindrical form with slight shoulder and squared rim, brown-slip glazed interior. Brushed cobalt double-flower and leaf decoration alternating with upright spiral snake-like ornaments. Probably Philadelphia area. Circa 1850-1880. 8 5/8" H, 5 1/4" D rim. Undamaged except for a minor sliver flake to rim, small glaze spall/pop to body, as made.
