NORTHEASTERN UNITED STATES DECORATED STONEWARE BATTER JUG, salt-glazed, slip-trailed "4" quart capacity, ovoid form with incised neck ring, open-loop handle supports, protruding spout, and applied arched handle at reverse base, brown-slip glazed interior. Slip-trailed cobalt tulips with veined leaves decoration below spout. Wire and wood bail handle appears to be original. Probably E. Norton & Co., Bennington, Vermont or Haxstun & Co. Fort Edward, New York. Circa 1870. 9 3/4" H, 4 1/4" D rim. Provenance: From the Ed and Kay Winnick collection, Sidney, NY.
