SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA FOLK ART BIRD CARVING, walnut, solid body with well delineated feathers, grooved tail, and downward turned head with tack eyes. Original chrome yellow and light green painted surface. Raised on carved walnut legs and base with excellent oxidation that is likely original. Probably Augusta Co. Mid 19th century. 4 3/4" HOA, 6 1/4" L. Provenance: Recently discovered at the auction of a Verona, VA estate.
Very good as-found condition with expected high-point wear to paint.
