TRUITT BROS. PENNSYLVANIA KENTUCKY-STYLE LONG RIFLE, approximately .44 caliber, percussion, double set triggers, octagonal barrel, probably originally rifled but rebored; the lockplate and hammer with scrolling foliate decoration, the lockplate marked "TRUITT BROS. / CO." Brass trigger guard, buttplate, and ramrod fittings, and eight-point brass star with floral decoration inset to cheekrest. Third quarter 19th century. 57" L, barrel 41 3/4" L.
Stock with several minor losses, a few minor cracks, several small holes filled, and a filled/repaired loss between barrel tang and lockplate (about 3" L). Loss to tail of one brass ramrod fitter. As mentioned, bore with some indication of rifling, but mostly smooth, possibly rebored. Lock not in working condition, some minor losses to hammer.
