WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA OVERSIZED STENCILED STONEWARE JAR
OVERSIZED STENCILED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, brushed "8" gallon capacity, cylindrical form with a slight shoulder, arched handles, flat-top rounded rim, and Albany-slip glazed interior. Stenciled cobalt "HAMILTON & JONES." above daisy, diamond, and wheat ornaments, and "GREENSBORO. / PA." at base, additional stenciled diamond arch enclosing decoration, brushed cobalt striping below rim and at base, additional cobalt at handle terminals. Excellent condition, slightly misshapen on reverse, very minor hairline to rim and reverse.
