Ca. 1865-1900 - A carved knob handle made out of exotic wood (possibly from a ship or collected from sailing ventures), nautical braid woven collar, the shaft is tightly bound in aged and tarred cordage with decorative rope whipping at intervals, the wrapping displays dense compacted surface consistent with period seafaring craftsmanship. Such canes were often fashioned by sailors during long voyages and served both practical and decorative purposes. Surface wear consistent with age, beautiful period patina, and minor abrasions in shaft. Structurally stable. H-3 1/4x1 3/8x2" OL-34"
