S. Billings by Sr. v Jr. Students 91-92 CVC", the CVC abbreviation likely references a Chicago based medical or professional college active during the time, Chicago was a major center of medical and professional education, and student presentation canes were traditional tokens of esteem bestowed upon professors, the style of engraving, Gothic script, and ornamental metalwork align with the height of Chicago's gilded age and culture, the handle retains warm patina consistent with age and use, mounted on a glossy ebony shaft, and ending in a metal ferrule. Cane comes with original protective fabric cover and quarter-sawed oak case with original brass hook fasteners, hinges, and brass carrying handle. Overall very fine condition. H-4 3/4x3 3/8" OL-35"
