Ca. 1890 - Red brown Carnelian ball knob embellished with three facetted roc crystal washers, inset in the center of the ball as well as edging borders to the stem. Endowed with the profile of a glittering orb, symbol of kingly power and justice, the knob is presented on a matching 9 ¼” tall high-grade shell stem with a silver gilt collar on a slender Malacca shaft and metal ferrule. The ball and stem are threaded and detach for safe storage. They survived flawlessly, not least due to a contemporary protective hinged container covered with suede, tooled with gold, and lined with matched silk. A characteristic sense of luxury shines through this exquisite walking stick, which embodies the romance of the Viennese Imperial days before WWI. It weaves noble materials, colors and style through aesthetic sensibilities and with all the maestria of éclectisme. Indeed, for most cane lovers, hard stone knobs and handles stand at the pinnacle. They are the best of the best and highly sought after because of their beauty and rarity. 11 ½” x 1 ½”, O.L. 39 ½”
Each auction has different shipping terms but the buyer always pays.
