A Japanese Inlaid Mixed-Metal Incense Burner, Koro
MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912)
of rectangular form, the recessed neck flanked by a pair of upright handles, each side inlaid to show a flying phoenix, against a gilt decorated ground showing flora blossoms and swirl motif, the domed cover surmounted by a seated shishi lion, the underside bearing a two-character marker's mark in gilt.
Height 5 3/4 x length 5 1/2 x width 3 1/2 in., 14 x 15 x 9 cm.
