- Lot Description
A Mid-Atlantic Chippendale Cherry Chest of Drawers, Late 18th Century
The rectangular top with applied dished molding above two short drawers over three long drawers, flanked by stop-fluted quarter columns, above a base molding, raised on ogee bracket feet. Pine secondary wood.
Dimensions: Height 38 1/4in; width 41 1/4in; depth 21 1/2in.
Provenance: From a Philadelphia Collection.
Condition
Structurally sound. Heavy marks, wear, scuffs and surface scratches. Age cracks to the left side of case with patches. Small losses, nicks and minor repairs to lips /corners of drawers. The feet with glued repairs and losses to facings. Lacking some glue blocks. Three drawers lacking locks. The brass hardware is of the period, but later replaced, with ghost marks and plugged holes from previous hardware to drawer fronts. No keys.
