After Émile Gallé (French, 1846–1904)
Cameo Art Glass VaseA large cameo art glass vase in the manner of Émile Gallé, decorated with layered relief glasswork in floral and foliate motifs emblematic of the Art Nouveau style. The elongated form and naturalistic decoration reflect Gallé’s celebrated aesthetic. Signed Gallé along the upper left.
Dimensions: 7 1/4 in. diameter x 12 1/2 in. high
Condition: Overall good; minor surface wear consistent with age and use.
Artist Bio
Émile Gallé (1846–1904) was one of the foremost glassmakers of the French Art Nouveau movement. Working in Nancy, Gallé pioneered techniques such as acid-etched cameo glass and marquetry, blending technical experimentation with poetic naturalism. His vessels often drew inspiration from flora, fauna, and landscapes, rendered with layered colors and organic forms. Exhibited widely and awarded at the Paris Expositions, Gallé’s work established him as a leading innovator of decorative arts.
