Maker Bio
Founded in New York in 1837, Tiffany & Co. emerged as America’s preeminent silversmith under Edward C. Moore, whose directorship (1873–1891) fostered both technical innovation and stylistic grandeur. The Chrysanthemum pattern, introduced in 1880, is Tiffany’s most opulent silver design, marrying naturalistic floral motifs with Rococo revival exuberance. Sought after by collectors, serving implements such as oyster servers represent both the artistry and social refinement of the Gilded Age table.
