“Chrysanthemum” Sterling Silver Oyster Server
Directorship of Edward C. Moore (1873–1891)A sterling silver oyster server by Tiffany & Co., in the Chrysanthemum pattern. Stamped with the “M” director’s mark for Edward C. Moore (1873–1891). Of spoon form with a broad, shallow bowl, the handle is finely chased and repoussé with chrysanthemum blossoms and scrolling foliage, terminating in a monogrammed cartouche. Designed to serve oysters and shellfish at the table, this specialized implement reflects the sophistication of Tiffany’s most luxurious silver service, introduced in 1880.
