Satish Gujral (1925–2020) was a multidisciplinary Indian artist, architect, and writer whose career spanned over seven decades. A student at the Mayo School of Art in Lahore and later at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City under Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros, Gujral developed a style that fused Indian modernism with international influences. His work encompassed painting, sculpture, and architectural design, including the Belgian Embassy in New Delhi, one of India’s most celebrated modernist buildings. Gujral’s paintings often combined abstraction with symbolic figuration, reflecting themes of memory, identity, and resilience. He received the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award, in 1999.Have a similar item to sell?
