Thota Vaikuntam (b. 1942) is a contemporary Indian painter renowned for his vivid depictions of village women from Telangana. A graduate of the College of Fine Arts and Architecture, Hyderabad, and later trained at M.S. University, Baroda, Vaikuntam’s paintings are characterized by bold color, strong outlines, and an iconic, almost sculptural quality. His art draws from the folk traditions of South India, blending modernist sensibilities with regional identity.
