Rare Set: “Les Figues” (Figs) Crystal Vase & Tray
A rare set of Les Figues pte de verre crystal by Daum, comprising a vase and matching tray. Each piece is signed, executed in richly colored pte de verre with high-relief fig leaves, fruit, and a delicately modeled lizard, rendered in amber and honey tones with mottled accents of purple. The vase measures approximately 8 1/2 x 12 1/2 in., and the tray approximately 17 x 11 3/4 in. This set exemplifies Daum’s mastery of the pte de verre technique, blending naturalistic motifs with a luminous, translucent quality that is both sculptural and painterly.
Dimensions: Vase – 8 1/2 x 12 1/2 in.; Tray – 17 x 11 3/4 in.

Founded in 1878 in Nancy, France, Daum is one of the most celebrated names in French decorative arts, renowned for pioneering and perfecting the art of pte de verre glassmaking. Particularly influential during the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods, Daum’s work has long been distinguished by its intricate naturalistic designs and mastery of color in glass. Reviving ancient lost-wax casting techniques, Daum became the premier French producer of pte de verre in the 20th century.
