Artist Bio
Jacques Doucet (1924–1994) was a French painter associated with the École de Paris and postwar abstraction. His work developed a distinct lyrical style, characterized by free, gestural brushwork and subtle chromatic harmonies, often evoking landscape or dreamlike atmospheres without direct figuration. Doucet exhibited widely from the 1950s onward, both in France and internationally, and became recognized as part of the generation of European artists who sought to reconcile abstraction with emotional resonance in the aftermath of World War II.
