Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was one of the most revolutionary and prolific artists of the 20th century, renowned for continually reshaping modern art across a career that spanned more than seventy years. From his Blue and Rose Periods to the invention of Cubism and his later explorations in ceramics and printmaking, Picasso ceaselessly innovated. His bullfighting works, such as Les Banderilles, reflect both his Spanish heritage and his fascination with themes of ritual, spectacle, and mortality.
