Designer Bio
Warren Platner (1919–2006) was an American architect and designer whose work bridged Modernism and the emerging aesthetic of the 1960s and 1970s. Best known for his furniture designs for Knoll, introduced in 1966, Platner created a collection that combined industrial materials with graceful, decorative forms. His signature tables and chairs, composed of hundreds of steel rods, have become enduring icons of Mid-Century Modern design. Platner also contributed to significant architectural projects, including the interiors of Windows on the World and Georg Jensen’s New York showroom. Today, his designs are celebrated as classics of 20th-century modern furniture.
