ROBERT TAIT McKENZIE (Canadian, 1867-1938), Male Figure Skater, bronze on marble, (approximate dimensions - overall: 12-1/4 h 15-3/8 w x 4-1/4 d inches), inscribed at base.
Bio: Robert McKenzie was a multi talented Canadian-born American sculptor, scouter, a scholar-athlete, a surgeon, a soldier, and physical educator. He served during World War I, helping wounded soldiers in England, the U.S., and Canada through innovative physical and mental recovery programs. As an anatomy and physical education professor, he used sculpture to demonstrate athletic movements, blending art with teaching. His work gained recognition for both its instructional value and artistic merit. McKenzie competed in five Olympic art competitions, winning a bronze medal in 1932. Among his most celebrated works is The Ideal Scout, created in honor of his close friend and Boy Scouts founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, which became an enduring symbol of the Scouting movement.
