De L'Isle, Guillaume. America Septentrionalis, Conccinata Juxta Observationes Dnn. Academiae Regalis Scientiarum... Augsburg: Ieremiam Wolff', ca. 1710.
Engraved map, 23.2 x 17.7" (59 x 45 cm). Small restorations.
Title in cartouche decorated with sea motif. Rare and limited German edition, part of the first edition printed in Paris in 1700. The Great Lakes are based on Coronelli's model, showing the French settlements of Tadousac, Quebec, Fort Sorel, Montreal, and Fort Frontenac. The English settlements are confined to the East, with the region around the Great Lakes and north of the Ohio River under the dominion of the Ilionensium and the Iroquois.
Like De L'isle's map, the Mississippi River is correctly aligned, as well as the Río Grande and the Colorado River. California is depicted as a peninsula.
