*The image of the Veracruz Squate was originated in the first half of the 19th century. A similar image appeared in the "Álbum pintoresco de la República Mexicana" (ca. 1850), published by Julio Michaud. This view was also based on an original lithography by Carl Nebel (Germany, 1805-France, 1855), and was part of his album "Voyage pittoresque et archéologique dans la partie la plus intéressante du Mexique" (1836), made after his trips in Mexico, and published with an introduction by Alexander von Humbolt.
