Jeffrey Clancy's Salver and Bud Vase, cast and fabricated of lead-free pewter, boldly address the intersection between contemporary art and traditional craft. Starting with well-known historical models of utilitarian metalwork, Clancy reimagines the past with an irreverence for conventional expectations of design. Here, in these surreal objects of unexpected beauty, the shiny upper section of the bud vase melts into a Dali-esque puddle of molten pewter, and the salver's densely textured tray is supported by legs that resemble discarded chicken bones.
Clancy's work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery in Washingtion, D.C., The Society of Arts and Crafts in Boston, and recently in a collaborative dining project with Steinbeisser Experimental Gastronomy, Amsterdam. A comprehensive article on Clancy was published in Metalsmith magazine in 2013.

MOWA will offer a complimentary delivery service for anyone living within a 120 mile radius of MOWA in West Bend. Delivery dates and times must be arranged by mutual agreement. Buyers outside the stated radius of MOWA may arrange to have the artwork packed and shipped at the buyer’s expense through Guardian Fine Art Services in Milwaukee. To have an initial discussion regarding packing and shipping fees, contact MOWA’s Registrar Andrea Waala at 262.247.2273 or at awaala@wisconsinart.org. Please know that it may take longer than usual this year to get purchased pieces into the hands of buyers due to the extenuating circumstances currently caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. All merchandise purchased must be removed from the premises within (14) days from the day of the auction. Smaller items may be taken immediately following the Auction once payment has been processed and approved. The Museum shall have no liability for any damage or loss to property left on its premises.
