N.P. Ames 1838 dated Peace Flask
Nathan P. Ames, a machinist based in Springfield, Massachusetts, developed The “Peace flask” design which featured a pair of clasped hands within a circle of stars and symbolized friendship and brotherhood between the states of the Union. Ames was under military contract from 1837-1846 making this second year production. The “peace flask” design proved so popular that it was copied by other military contractors. It would end up being one of the most popular designs found on US military-issue powder flasks.
