- Lot Description
Oil on canvas painting after the famous composition The Three Bogatyrs by Russian artist Viktor Vasnetsov, depicting the legendary Slavic warriors mounted on horseback surveying the landscape. The work is signed and dated "Heinlein 1947" at the lower right and presents the iconic trio-Dobrynya Nikitich, Ilya Muromets, and Alyosha Popovich-in a stylized mid-20th century interpretation of the celebrated Russian historical subject. Oil on canvas set within a dark wood frame; the reverse shows an older stretch-mounted canvas and hanging wire. A striking decorative painting inspired by one of the most recognizable images of Russian epic folklore. Frame and canvas show age and wear consistent with use and display. Approx. frame size (in): 32 x 42.5 x 2, Approx. painting size (in): 24.75 x 38.25.
