A striking antique carved wood religious figure depicting the Madonna and Child, richly finished in old polychrome paint with vivid red, blue, ochre, cream, and dark brown tones. The seated Madonna wears a crown and veil, holding the Christ Child prominently at the front, with both figures rendered in a folk-art devotional style. The piece shows substantial age-related wear, including paint loss, surface craquelure, chips, splits, scuffs, losses to the crown and edges, and an aged patina throughout, all contributing to its historic character. The reverse and underside reveal hand-carved wood construction and older painted surfaces, suggesting use as a devotional or ecclesiastical santos-style figure. A visually compelling religious carving with strong presence, ideal for collectors of folk art, Spanish Colonial-style devotional objects, santos figures, or antique religious sculpture.
