- Lot Description
A charming antique still life painting depicting a hanging group of game birds, executed in a trompe l’oeil style on a dark wood-toned panel. The composition features several birds arranged against a rich reddish-brown background, with expressive brushwork and a warm, aged surface. Housed in an attractive gilt and ebonized wooden frame with visible wear consistent with age. The reverse shows an old wood backboard, wire hanger, early nails, and remnants of old handwritten labels, adding to its period character. Surface wear, craquelure, scuffs, losses to the frame, and age-related patina are present throughout, as shown. A decorative and evocative antique sporting still life, well suited for a study, library, gallery wall, or traditional interior.
