A scarce and visually striking hand-colored woodcut titled Rain by American artist Bertha Lum (1869–1954), dated 1913. This composition beautifully captures Lum’s signature Japonisme influence, depicting a dramatic curling wave under stylized falling rain, rendered through fine vertical linework and subtle tonal gradations in blue and green. The lower margin bears the artist’s signature and date, consistent with known examples of her early work produced during her time in Japan. Presented in a period frame with wide mat, the print exhibits age-related toning, scattered foxing, and visible rippling to the paper, along with original mounting remnants on the reverse. Despite these condition issues, the piece remains a compelling example of Lum’s synthesis of Western and Japanese printmaking traditions and would make a desirable addition to collections of American prints or Asian-influenced works. Approx. frame size (in): 20.75 x 13.75 x 0.5, Approx. etching size (in): 11 x 6.25.
