- Lot Description
Watercolor landscape painting depicting a rustic countryside scene with a fallen tree trunk, fence posts, and a small farmhouse set against rolling hills beneath a cloudy sky. Executed in loose, expressive brushwork with washes of blue, green, and ochre, the composition emphasizes the twisted foreground tree and surrounding vegetation. Signed lower right "Chaim Gross" and dated 1937. The work is matted and housed in a frame, with older paper backing and hanging wire visible on the reverse. A lively early landscape work by the noted modernist sculptor and artist Chaim Gross, showing his fluid draftsmanship and painterly approach to natural forms. Approx. frame size (in): 20.75 x 23.75 x 0.75, Approx. painting size (in): 13.25 x 16.25.
