- Lot Description
American Civil War period Model 1850 Foot Officer’s sword, featuring a straight etched steel blade, cast brass hilt, and wire-wrapped grip. Retaining its leather-covered scabbard with brass mounts, the sword is accompanied by its suspension hangers. The blade is decorated with foliate scrollwork and remains housed in its original scabbard. A classic Civil War officer’s sidearm, intended for dress and field wear. Overall wear consistent with age and use, including surface wear, patina to brass elements, wear to the grip and scabbard, and age-related finish loss. Blade with visible etching and expected spotting or light oxidation. Approx. length (in): 35.25.
