Chippendale Walnut Side Chair
Boston, Mass., c. 1775, appears to retain its original surface.
Provenance: Stephen Score, Boston, Massachusetts
38 1/4 x 22 1/2 x 20 1/2 in. (97.2 x 57.2 x 52.1 cm.)Condition
Imperfections and wear to surface. Small loss to portion of splat. One side stretcher in need of repair. Tenon broke. Chips to pads on front feet. Bruise to center of splat. Bruising and abrasions consistent with age and use. Chair can use a little tightening. Old dry, grungy surface. Maple seat frame appears old and likely original. Previously fitted with webbing that wrapped frame. Numerous nail history. Overall good condition.
