Tamaño: Pequeño 20cm x 26cm. Detalles: Con sello ENBA. Biografía: Gerardo Murillo, cuyo seudónimo fue Dr. Atl, fue un pintor mexicano de Guadalajara nacido el 3 de octubre de 1875. Se dedicó además a la escritura y exploró otras disciplinas menos artísticas como la geología y la vulcanología. Estudia en la Academia de San Carlos en la Ciudad de México y a los 22 años obtiene una beca por el gobierno de Porfirio Díaz y recibe otra ayuda por el gobierno de Jalisco para estudiar en Europa. El Dr. Atl fue una personalidad mexicana que se aprovechó al máximo del tiempo de revolución y renacimiento que le tocó vivir y que supo trasladarlo a toda su obra. Siempre inconformista, se convirtió en un polifacético en busca de su propia personalidad a través de multitud de artes expresivas y oficios: fue pintor y escritor, pero también filósofo, explorador, geólogo, vulcanólogo y practicó el ensayo, la crítica de arte, la política y hasta la caricatura y el periodismo. Como pintor el Dr. Atl se dedicó al paisajismo y creó una cantidad importante de obras de ese estilo con el tema de los volcanes, pintó especialmente el Popocatépetl e Iztaccíhuatl, desde diferentes lugares. Diseñó el telón de cristal opalescense de la casa Tifany de Nueva York. Como escritor se dedicó a la investigación sobre los volcanes y escribe un libro titulado: Cómo nace y crece un volcán. Creó también una serie de pinturas que llamó Atl Colours, una especie de pasteles grasos con las que solía pintar los paisajes. Biography: Gerardo Murillo, whose pseudonym was Dr. Atl, was a Mexican painter from Guadalajara born on October 3, 1875. He also devoted himself to writing and explored other less artistic disciplines such as geology and volcanology. He studied at the Academy of San Carlos in Mexico City and at the age of 22 he obtained a scholarship from the government of Porfirio Díaz and received another grant from the government of Jalisco to study in Europe. Dr. Atl was a Mexican personality who took full advantage of the time of revolution and rebirth that he lived through and who knew how to transfer it to all his work. Always a non-conformist, he became multifaceted in search of his own personality through a multitude of expressive arts and crafts: he was a painter and writer, but also a philosopher, explorer, geologist, volcanologist and practiced essays, art criticism, politics and even caricature and journalism. As a painter, Dr. Atl dedicated himself to landscaping and created a significant number of works in that style with the theme of volcanoes, especially Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, from different places. He designed the opalescent glass curtain for the Tiffany house in New York. As a writer, he dedicated himself to research on volcanoes and wrote a book entitled: How a volcano is born and grows. He also created a series of paintings called Atl Colours, a kind of fatty pastels with which he used to paint landscapes.
