Materiales: Mixta sobre papel. Tamaño: Pequeño 35cm x 27cm. Año: No fechado- Siglo XX. Procedencia: Colección privada. Biografía: Nacido en Guadalajara, Jalisco el 19 de febrero de 1881-falleció el 13 de octubre de 1968 en la ciudad de México. . Destacado pintor, ilustrador, escenógrafo y muralista. Produjo ilustraciones y viñetas para la Revista Moderna. Estudió con el brasileño Félix Bernardelli radicado en Guadalajara durante los años de 1904 y 1905 y siendo el último año se mudó a la ciudad de México. Estudió en la Academia de San Carlos con Julio Ruelas, Antonio Fabrés y Germán Gedovius. Obtuvo una beca de la Secretaría de Instrucción Pública para estudiar en Europa, partiendo al viejo continente en noviembre de 1906. Vivió en Europa hasta 1921, donde trabajó con importantes artistas españoles, franceses y belgas. En México, José Vasconcelos lo comisionó para realizar diversos murales en la Secretaría de Educación Pública, en la Escuela Benito Juárez, en la Librería Iberoamericana y en la Escuela Nacional de Maestros. Como escritor y crítico, junto con otros artistas contemporáneos, trató de apartar la atención del arte europeo introduciendo el arte popular mexicano al público. Su vasto conjunto de obras incluye pintura, grabado, ilustraciones de libros, viñetas y vitrales. Fue fundador de la Academia de Artes. Biography: Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco on February 19, 1881-died October 13, 1968 in Mexico City. . Outstanding painter, illustrator, set designer and muralist. He produced illustrations and vignettes for the Modern Magazine. He studied with the Brazilian Félix Bernardelli based in Guadalajara during the years of 1904 and 1905 and being the last year he moved to Mexico City. He studied at the Academy of San Carlos with Julio Ruelas, Antonio Fabrés and Germán Gedovius. He obtained a scholarship from the Ministry of Public Instruction to study in Europe, leaving for the old continent in November 1906. He lived in Europe until 1921, where he worked with important Spanish, French and Belgian artists. In Mexico, José Vasconcelos commissioned him to make various murals in the Ministry of Public Education, in the Benito Juárez School, in the Ibero-American Bookstore and in the National School of Teachers. As a writer and critic, along with other contemporary artists, he tried to draw attention away from European art by introducing Mexican folk art to the public. His vast body of work includes painting, printmaking, book illustrations, vignettes, and stained glass. He was the founder of the Academy of Arts
