HOUDINI, Harry (Erik Weisz, 1874 - 1926). A Magician Among the Spirits. New York: Harper Brothers, 1924. First edition. Blue cloth gilt. Frontispiece. Plates. 8vo. A bright, square, and attractive example. Boldly INSCRIBED AND SIGNED by Houdini on the ffep, “To Hattie Mooser with love & best wishes to you and yours, Houdini / Friend of your Bro[ther] Leon / May 6/24." Mrs. Mooser's address label is affixed to the front pastedown. Hattie Mooser worked with her sister to open the first supper club in San Francisco and founded the first municipal children's theater there. Her brother Leon, mentioned in Houdini's inscription, helped promote appearances of the great Chinese conjurer Ching Ling Foo.
