Chicago: Johnson Publishing Company, 1972. 8vo. 312 pp. Publisher's full red mottled binding, spine lettered in black, publisher's unclipped ("$6.95") dust jacket. FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE HALF-TITLE: "To Aaronetta and Joe Pierce, with all the best from a friend, Lerone 6/94".
Condition
Minor occasional rubbing, bumping to binding, text lightly toned, some light soiling to half-title (most likely a previous owner's pencil inscription, erased); jacket slightly toned and rubbed, a creased tear at rear jacket panel near tailcap, minor marginal chipping to lower jacket edges, a few short marginal tears. Very good.

This influential title is a collection of essays and speeches by Bennett about the Black Power, Black Liberation, and Civil Rights movements. Bennett was a historian, sociologist, and was the senior editor of Ebony magazine for several years.
