Illustrated throughout by Biggers. 119 pp. Publisher's full yellow cloth, front board and spine stamped in black, black endleaves, publisher's price-clipped dust jacket. FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY BIGGERS ON THE FFEP.: "To Mr. + Mrs. Ted Brown In deep appreciation for your interest John Biggers". Written in white ink. Uncommon in jacket.
Condition
Cloth binding soiled, foxed and rubbed, minor soiling to edge of text block; jacket has numerous tape repairs/reinforcments on verso, jacket toned, worn, soiled, black tape at head- and tailcap at spine (on front). Good.

First published in 1962, this is Biggers' handsome and insightful view of Africa, based on his travels in Africa with his wife. Number 3 of the Blaffer Series of Southwestern Art.
