ARMSTRONG, Z. B. (American, 1911-1993). Vertical Doomsday Calendar. Circa 1970s-1993. Red and blue marker on wood, built with nails. 19 x 8 ??. Some wear, wooden piece on top broken in half (other piece is present). A good example of this Outsider Artist?s characteristic Doomsday Calendars. In 1972, Armstrong claimed to be visited by an angel, telling him: ?Our time has gone to waste... Judgment Day will come and at what hour only God knows.? Heeding this warning, Armstrong began building and decorating Doomsday Calendars. Provenance:?purchased directly from the artist.
