Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1955. 8vo. 222, [2, blank] pp. Publisher's full blue cloth, spine stamped in black, publisher's unclipped (?$2.95") dust jacket (minor rubbing to cloth spine; jacket spine a bit toned, minor occasional rubbing). Bright and fine. FIRST EDITION, SCIENCE FICTION LEGEND DONALD A. WOLLHEIM'S COPY WITH HIS INK OWNERSHIP STAMP ON THE RFEP. Wollheim (1914-1990) was a prominent science fiction author, publisher, editor, and an early figure in science fiction fandom. He published (later determined to be piracies) the first paperback edition of The Lord of the Rings, which is credited for the tremendous growth of popularity of these classic fantasy novels.
