- Lot Description
[Autographs ? Magicians] Autographed 1914 S.A.M. Program. Handsome printed program for the ?Twelfth Anniversary and Tenth Annual Dinner of the Society of American Magicians? held at the Hotel Marseilles, New York. Autographed in pencil by Harry Kellar (one of two guests of honor at the event), The Great Leon, LaFolette, Dunninger, Carl Rosini, Ching Ling Foo (in English and Chinese), Silent Mora, Loring Campbell, C.A. George Newmann, Nate Leipzig, and others. Red string binding, as issued. Faint old fold. A remarkable and historic grouping of autographs. Kellar traveled to New York only a few times after his retirement from the stage in 1908. On this occasion, he met Ching Ling Foo, acknowledged as China?s greatest living magician. An iconic photograph of Foo and Kellar ? along with Theodore DeLand, Guy Jarrett, Silent Mora, and other luminaries ? was taken to commemorate their meeting.
