- Lot Description
[AUTOMATON]. French Clockwork/Wind-Up Toy Tricycle Wax-Head Doll. [French?, late 19th century]. Clockwork doll riding a red metal tricycle with a small glass lantern at the front. With wax head, glass eyes, bisqueware hands and legs, and original clothing. When wound, one of the back wheels turns to propel the tricycle forward, causing the doll to pedal its legs and turn its head side to side. With a start/stop lever. Height approx. 13 ?". Works. Chipping to one hand, clothing somewhat tattered, dust accumulation. Good.
